BRUSSLES: A delegation from Saudi aid agency KSrelief, led by Hana Omar, director of the center’s department of partnerships and international relations, participated in a meeting in Brussels last week addressing the Gaza crisis.
The meeting was chaired by the European Commission and France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs as part of the High-Level European Humanitarian Forum’s third session, which took place on March 18 and 19.
Addressing the meeting, Omar highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to alleviate the repercussions of the ongoing violence in Gaza and expressed her gratitude to Belgium for hosting the meeting amid “escalating hostilities and blatant violations of international humanitarian law” in Gaza. She also conveyed appreciation for the efforts of humanitarian workers in Gaza and offered condolences to the families of those who had lost their lives during recent events.
Since November, the Saudi leadership has spearheaded a campaign through the “Sahim” relief platform for the Palestinian people in Gaza. This initiative has received donations exceeding $180 million.
The forum was focused on the humanitarian requirements in nations impacted by crises worldwide. Participants emphasized the importance of bolstering cooperation between affected countries, donors, international stakeholders, and the European Union in order to identify sustainable and effective solutions to humanitarian challenges, particularly in Gaza.
